In the book of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Music of the World, Music of Friendship, Brotherhood” there was a picture of a young artist Nurberdi Batyrov. This picture so vividly and reliably shows the culmination of the film “Shukur Bakhshi” and we would like to introduce our readers to its author.
Nurberdi Batyrov was born in 1988 in the village of Akhal, Geokdepe etrap, Akhal velayat. The future boy became interested in drawing. In order to become an artist in the future, he entered the etrap children's art school. It was at the time when he mastered the basics of painting that he watched the film “Shukur Bakhshi” on TV and was fascinated by the film itself and its main character. To understand and comprehend the essence of this movie drama, he took a story by the famous writer Nurmyrad Sarykhanov from the library. He read this work several times and in the end it became his favorite book. The theme of the story, especially the inner experiences of the protagonist, his ability to play the dutar, and the enchanting music of this instrument had a strong effect on him that he began to walk along with the art school and a children's music school to learn how to play the magic dutar.
Not tired of watching this film and reading the story, he wanted to enter the image of the famous bakhshi. It was those times that he had one cherished dream, sooner or later to create the image of “Shukur bakhshi” on canvas.
To make his childhood dream come true, he became a student at a special art school at the State Art Academy of Turkmenistan. Within the walls of this educational institution, a provincial student was very different from his fellow students in the ability to choose a topic and transfer different images and plots to the canvas. Communication with famous artists and experienced painting teachers strengthened in him the belief in him in the realization of his childhood dream. During his student years, he often played the dutar and it was as important for him to try his power in it as it was to watch the film itself.
2010. This year was a memorable year in the life of Nurberdi, as he chose the topic “Shukur Bakhshi” for his thesis. Thus, he wanted to realize that cherished dream. On the advice of his painting teacher Khodjamuhammet Churiev, he began to create various sketches to realize his old dream. Khodzhamukhammet Churiev not only supported the idea of a gifted student who was eager to create the image of the legendary bakhshi on canvas, he showed him the works of great artists of different years so that the image he created would correspond to the canons of world painting.
After three months, he submitted his thesis to the essence of an authoritative jury composed of well-known artists and painting teachers. It was the most exciting moment in his life. After a long pause, the overworking student graduate jury delivered its verdict. They were not only delighted with his work, not hiding their pride in him, they reported that his graduation project, as the best work, would remain in the museum of the school. To this day, this work is stored there.
Nurberdi Batyrov works as a teacher of painting at a special art school in Akhal velayat. It was a surprise for the young artist and teacher that the image of “Shukur Bakhshi” created by him was placed in the book of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Today, with special gratitude, he remembers those people who provided him with every possible help in creating the image of the famous bakhshi. At the end of our conversation, he said in advance he intends to create the same images, but which, as a creative person, he decided to keep to himself for now.
