Turkmen artists quite often depict on paintings or in sculpture two geniuses known to every Turkmen citizen - composer Nury Halmammedov and his friend poet Kurbannazar Ezizov. Recently, the honored worker of arts of Turkmenistan Kakageldy Seyitmukhammedov delighted lovers of fine arts with a new work, which is called “Composer and Poet”. In the picture, both friends look thoughtful, their eyes are fixed somewhere far away, as if they were captured at the moment of creating another joint work - a song or a symphonic poem, which were created in abundance in their short but extremely eventful life.
A conversation began between us and the author of the picture, and Kakageldy Seyitmukhammedov said that he was personally acquainted with the heroes of his picture. Moreover, this happened in the mid-60s, when both Nury Halmamedov and Kurbannazar Ezizov were at the zenith of fame. Their casual acquaintance soon grew into a true friendship. And he sometimes had the good fortune to be an eyewitness to their joint projects, which were destined to become classics of national music.
Kakageldy Seyitmukhammedov recalls: both of them were extremely demanding on their work. For them, the sound of every word and every note was important. In this regard, disputes often arose between the poet and the composer.
More than forty years have passed since they were gone. But Kakageldy Seyitmukhammedov in his memories often returns to those years when they were all young, they were full of desire to create and create something new for their people. The artist decided to transfer the state of inspiration of two beloved sons of the Turkmen people to canvas. And he succeeded.
Kakageldy Seyitmukhammedov listens to the music of Nury Khalmammedov almost every day. He knows many poems by Kurbannazar Ezizov by heart. Sometimes he does not believe that they are no more. It seems to him that they are about to enter noisily together into his workshop. Memories of them mean a lot to him. Perhaps that is why he left the work dedicated to the memory of the composer and poet in his studio. And fans of their talent come here themselves. And the artist is very proud of it.
