These days the State Drama Theater of the Balkan Velayat named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi is celebrating its anniversary.
Exactly 15 years ago, the first theatrical bell rang on the stage of a completely new building, inviting the public to an amazing journey into the world of directing and acting. This historical event became the starting point for the development of the theatrical art of the Balkan region.
- The grand opening of the theater building in Balkanabat took place on October 21, 2006, - director Ovezmammet Galandarov recalls. – At the same time, the State theaters of Mary, Lebap, Dashoguz velayats and the Alp Arslan National Theater in Ashgabat celebrated theatrical housewarming. But in the listed theaters there already existed their own, long-formed teams, in which famous actors worked. And at the time of the opening of the Balkan Theater, it did not yet have a permanent repertoire and an acting troupe.
Soon, the new “temple of art” was replenished with talented young people - graduates of creative universities and theater studios.
However, the theater is a complex organism, where, in addition to the creative staff, there are props, dressing rooms, sewing, carpentry, lighting and sound engineering shops. The management faced an important task - to gather a close-knit team of like-minded people and put on a performance, the first in its repertoire.
The director Ovezmammet Galandarov, who was at the forefront of the formation of the Balkan theater, started staging the play “Kim bagtly”. The premiere was played on February 19, 2007, marking the beginning of a series of new theatrical productions: "Asuda ummanyň sergin şemaly", "Oguz toýy", "Bagtyýarlyk döwrüniň goşa toýy", "Joşgunly Awaza", "Söýgim meniň - bagtym meniň", "Söýgi bizi halas eder", "Köňül telwasy" and many others.
Today, a large creative team is successfully working on the stage of the theater. The team takes an active part in all significant events and theatrical events of the country, making a worthy contribution to the prosperity of Turkmen culture.
