The United Nations Development Program in Turkmenistan organized a gender-responsive adaptation planning workshop for Turkmen specialists.
The event was held within the framework of the project "Supporting climate-resilient economic livelihoods of agricultural communities in the dry regions of Turkmenistan", which is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, UNDP and the GEF Special Climate Fund.
The participants got acquainted with the concept of integrating gender indicators at the level of planning and budgeting processes as a new technology for more sustainable and efficient planning, discussed the possibility of integrating gender budgeting technology at the level of line ministries and departments responsible for managing water and agricultural resources in the country.
It should be noted that one of the main goals of the joint project launched in 2016 is to support the Government in improving the institutional and legal mechanisms for the efficient use of water and land resources, including the introduction of climate change adaptation measures through institutional changes.
