At the Main Drama Theater named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, work on an updated version of the play "Romeo and Juliet" has been completed.

One of the most famous tragedies of the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare tells about the bright love of a young man and a girl from two warring clans - the Montagues and the Capulets. This story, written many years ago, is still considered the standard of the most exalted feelings today.

The revival of the performance staged by director Gochmyrat Bekiev in 2000 was carried out by director Gulyalek Akmyradova.

“The team of our theater dedicates this creative work to the memory of Gochmyrat Bekiev, who left us for another world,” says Gulyalek Akmyradova. – I was lucky to work with this talented person as an assistant director during the period when he himself worked on the production of Shakespeare's tragedy. I still remember all his thoughts about the play. He said this: "I have seen and know many ideas invested in the play" Romeo and Juliet ", some talk about the battle of clans, others about the tragedy, and I will do this performance in the name of love." We delved into the plot and tried to bring the main human values to the updated production - love, as the basis of the universe and the idea of preserving the world. After all, if there is no peace, we can lose the most precious thing we have - our children.

A female view of the events of a romantic story eloquently depicts the life of the main character: “She is a child. She is new to the world and not yet fourteen years old. If two more years had flown by, she would have been ripe for marriage. Juliet (Merjen Garlieva) is the central female character of the play and who, if not a woman, is close and understands the feelings of a young girl.

Immersion in the special atmosphere of the performance is facilitated by everything - from light to scenery. The viewer seems to be transferred to a bygone era to one of the squares of Verona, where seniors and senoritas stroll. On the outskirts of the city, irreconcilable battles and duels with swords often occur. The noisy streets now and then boil with the hatred of two clans, always opposing each other. And one day here, among the protracted enmity, a forgotten feeling called love is born.

Seeing Juliet at a ball in the Capulet house, Romeo Montague (Begench Garliev) falls in love with the girl at first sight. And now he is already at the balcony of the sighing young beauty. The appearance of Romeo in the serene life of Juliet not only gives rise to her first love, but also awakens her mind.

Has she ever wondered why the Montecchi and Capulet families are at war with each other? Does it matter what kind of tribe a person belongs to if you love? The girl shows her character for the first time, trying to defend her own opinion.

The first confessions and vows of eternal love force the young man and girl to go against their parental will, which soon leads to the death of two heroes. Hence the well-known popular expression is born: "There is no sadder story in the world than the story of Romeo and Juliet."

According to the director of the production, Gulyalek Akmyradova, "Romeo and Juliet" is a beautiful, but at the same time tragic love story that happened between young heroes. The death of the children brings the feuding families together, ending the blood feud when it's too late. But two little angels appear on the stage from the darkness, symbolizing hope for a brighter future and eternal memory for human souls.

The production involves the best young actors of the country, who feel quite organic in the circumstances. Bright characters, colorful characters are remembered thanks to the excellent acting. Ashgabat fans of theatrical art will soon be able to attend the premiere of the updated performance.
