Magtymguly International Prize - 30 years

30 years ago, the Magtymguly International Prize in the field of the Turkmen language and literature was established, which is awarded annually for special merits in scientific study and wide popularization in the world of the creative heritage of the founder of Turkmen classical literature, the great poet-philosopher Magtymguly Fragi, for his contribution to the establishment of humanistic principles and development of cultural ties. The Committee for the Magtymguly International Prizes, approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, includes well-known representatives of the creative intelligentsia of Turkmenistan. For three decades, the Magtymguly International Prize has been awarded to the heads of several states, ministers, publishers, scientists, writers and literary critics from many countries of the world.

The anniversary date is of particular importance in the light of the unfolding preparations for the celebration at the international level of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet, philosopher and humanist of the East. In accordance with the Decree signed by the President of Turkmenistan, an organizing committee for the solemn celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi was created and its composition was approved.

A number of events are planned for the upcoming anniversary of the famous classic of Turkmen literature in 2024. Among them: the creation of a special Internet portal dedicated to the life and work of the poet of the 18th century, as well as the "Encyclopedia of Magtymguly Fragi"; preparation in digital and printed format of the “Divanа (collection) of Magtymguly Fragi” and research works; translation of the poems of the Turkmen poet into various languages of the world, publication and solemn presentations of book novelties; holding exhibitions, creative meetings, etc. In cooperation with international organizations, it is planned to study and popularize the literary heritage of the poet-philosopher at the world level. For these purposes, an International Scientific Conference is planned to be held in Ashgabat in 2024.

The celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli in the next three years throughout the Turkic world was discussed in detail at the meeting of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev in December last year. The Secretariat of the Organization is working on the relevant Program, which includes many events, in particular, conferences of an international nature, publications of various publications, and scientific research. It is also planned to erect monuments to Makhtumkuli in the capitals of the countries of the Turkic world, to name streets in cities after him. Together with the Government of Turkmenistan, the Secretariat of the Organization will work in this direction in a broader format.

The ongoing work to include the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi in the list of glorious dates celebrated at the UNESCO level was discussed at the meeting of the head of state with the deputies of Milli Genesh of Turkmenistan on March 1. And the other day, the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, together with the Peace Foundation of Turkmenistan, the Magtymguly Youth Organization and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, held a creative event at the Center for Public Organizations, which also included a traveling exhibition called “Men gözelligi döredýärin” (“I create beauty” ), dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi.
