Ceremonial laying of foundation stone of the Olympic village included 30 facilities was held on November 5, 2010 with participation of the Leader of the Nation. Architects and constructors of the Olympic village had a task to build sport complex, which will be in line with top international standards by its architecture, design, functionality and technical provision.
The unique complex of sport facilities, which does not have analogues in the region, is almost completed. Multi-functional cluster with competent infrastructure is able receive and accommodate sportsmen, conduct competitions and trainings.
The erection of facilities of the Olympic village was performed in three stages. Small training facilities, game complex for 15 thousand visitors, cycle track for 6 thousand people, martial art sport complex for 5 thousand people and its three training gyms, rehabilitation centre open tennis courts, handball, basketball and volleyball fields for 1 thousand visitors, artificial pool, open stands and other were build during first stage of construction.
Restaurant for one thousand people, “Sport” hotel for 800 people with press centre, multi-level car parkings for 400 and 200 vehicles, “Sport” business centre connected with the Olympic village by gallery bridge with restaurant for 370 people were also built.
Construction works under second stage was fully completed in December of 2015. Ther are “Olympic” hotel for 450 people for VIP guests, track and field complex for 5 thousand visitors, indoor water complex for 5 thousand visitors and open pool for different water sport competitions with 1200 places, tennis hall with stands for 4000 people and open courts for 2 thousand people. Technology equipment providing information and communication support and management of the processes during the Games from Spanish company “ATOS”, which is official IT partner of International Olympic Committee, was installed during second phase of construction. Cultural and entertainment centre is another facility. Multi-level parking for 500 vehicles is built beside the hotels, adjoined territory is beautified.
The third phase of construction of the Olympic village is undergoing at high pace. Construction of hotel for 12 thousand sportsmen is completed. Two multi-level parkings for 400 vehicles are erected, construction of international broadcast centre and doping control scientific and research and training centres, Olympic square and logistics centres is under completion. Building-up of roof and finishing of façade of the Olympic stadium is undergoing.
The opening of new cycle track was held in March, 2014. Innovative technologies, multi functionality and comfort conditions for sportsmen and fans were implemented in the construction, which opened new page in development of national cycle racing. Everything, including architecture style and interior design, is unique.
The building of cycle track resembles giant closed stadium. Sizes of the facility do impress; they are 134.15х172.47х32.5 meters. The length of tracks is 250 meters and width is 7.10 meters. Currently, the racers are able to speed up to 70 – 80 kilometres per hour. Expensive but very solid and reliable material for racing – wood of Norwegian larch, was chosen for Ashgabat track.
International level competitions are able to be conducted there and new records of speed can be set. Besides, synthetic cover of internal part of construction allows conducting of mini-football, handball, track and field athletics, tennis and other competitions.
Recently, cycle track trainings were depended on weather conditions. Everything changed today and indoor track in Ashgabat will help to train high-class sportsmen around the year. Visitor stands are located around the whole perimeter of the building and able to accommodate 6000 people. VIP and CIP lounges, conference-hall and mass media places, lounges for Olympic Committee representatives and places for disabled people are stipulated there.
Beside the racing track, structure of facility include visitors stands, sportsmen and trainers rooms, bicycle storages and workshops, saunas, bathes, showers, massage rooms and technical premises. Small restaurant, nine cafes for 447 people in total and 13 canteens for 750 sportsmen are located in the building. 30 cloaks for 500 people are at disposal of the athletes.
