Every Turkmen citizen has his own Makhtumkuli: great and simple, inaccessible and close… Director-producer of the Main Drama Theater Eziz Ishankuliev and playwright, People's Writer of Turkmenistan Govshutgeldy Danatarov introduced Magtymguly to the audience as a philosopher, a poet endowed with superhuman talent.

The play begins with Magtymguly receiving a blessing from the saints in a dream. Dream fantasy raises Makhtumkuli above earthly reality, connecting spirituality with the Galaxy.

To convey this scene, the production designer, Honored Art Worker of Turkmenistan Maksat Amanklychev used new LED technical means.

The performance involved a truly stellar cast of actors: People's Artist of Turkmenistan Mukhammedguly Kasymov was lucky to embody the image of Makhtumkuli on the stage, his father Dovletmamed Azadi - People's Artist of Turkmenistan Nurberdy Allaberdiyev. Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Maksat Khydyrov plays the role of Chovdur Khan, and People's Artist of Turkmenistan Chary Berdyev plays the role of Nagyshbendi. The role of Mengli was played by actress Selbi Babylova.

Beautiful musical accompaniment, combined with successful scenography, helped the director create a bright, unforgettable performance.

“I am happy that I was offered to write music for this performance,” says Rovshen Nepesov, Honored Art Worker of Turkmenistan. – Govshutgeldy Danatarov's play contains mysticism, romance, patriotism and spirituality. It is very impressive that the director Eziz Ishankuliev said: “I don’t know how you will do it, but the music should be temperamental with quivering messages.” I am encouraged that the choir of the Turkmen National Conservatory is involved in the musical arrangement.

The audience warmly greeted the premiere of the play "Makhtumkuli", friendly applause turned into a standing ovation when the director and playwright came on stage together with the actors.
