President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the sixth Caspian summit, proposed to develop an agreement on cultural cooperation in the Caspian region.

“Speaking of the Caspian Sea as a space for cooperation and mutual understanding, we pay due attention to the development of humanitarian ties,” said the head of state.

He noted the clear, well-coordinated work during the coronavirus pandemic, when at this difficult time the Caspian states united, showing an example of solidarity and mutual assistance. In this regard, the head of state expressed sincere gratitude to the presidents of the coastal countries.

“We are in favor of building up and expanding cultural ties. In this regard, we propose to start developing a five-sided agreement on cooperation in the field of culture,” emphasized Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

He also stressed that he sees the great potential of the Caspian Sea, its coast as a place of recreation and leisure, and also supports initiatives to improve regional cooperation in the tourism industry and in cruise shipping.
