Formula for innovative development

Specialists of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan make a significant contribution to the development of innovative technologies. The results of their research and analysis ensure the development of various industries, the creation of conditions for the production of highly competitive products in the domestic and foreign markets using local raw materials.

Effective work was carried out at the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan in the first half of 2022. The Institute carried out scientific and analytical work on the development and introduction into production of scientific foundations, technologies for the complex processing of hydro-mineral and hydrocarbon raw materials of the country, the provision of scientific and practical assistance to enterprises of the chemical, oil and gas industries and other industries.

In accordance with the “State Program for the Comprehensive Development of Chemical Science and Technology in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025”, the Institute’s researchers have carried out a number of important research projects of various directions and importance. The possibilities of using iron ore from the Koytendag and Gyzylgay deposits as raw materials for the production of Portland cement were studied, in particular, at the Balkan cement plant. Scientific research carried out by chemists proved the possibility of using not only the product, but also the remnants of raw materials obtained during the enrichment of the iron ore of the deposit to obtain building material. Successfully carried out pilot tests (PII) for the production of Portland cement using as a raw material, waste obtained from the enrichment of local raw materials Gyzylgay iron ore. The production of cement based on this raw material has been launched at the Balkan Cement Plant.

At the AOOT "Marysheker" enterprise, the scientists of the institute conducted industrial tests on the topic "Obtaining disinfectant solutions based on the waste of sugar and wineries" and received antibacterial drugs from the main fraction (ether-aldehyde fraction) formed as a by-product along with the main products at AOOT " Marysheker".

With the participation of specialists from the institute, work is underway to organize the production of import-substituting products in the country. For example, for the purification of cooling circulating water at industrial enterprises, the chemical reagent “calcium nitrate tetra-hydrate” based on local raw materials was used. Pilot tests of the obtained reagent were carried out by the specialists of the Institute of Chemistry together with the specialists of the plant at the rotary cooling unit 820-U-01 of the Gyanli Polymer Plant. Based on the test results, it was decided to establish its production from local raw materials with the participation of the State Concern "Turkmenhimiya". The fact is that sodium hydrate is currently imported not only for use in production, but also in large quantities - as a fertilizer in greenhouses.

The Institute has developed a technology for obtaining a coagulant, which is used in water purification at industrial and social enterprises of our country, by oxidizing with non-concentrated nitric acid, produced by Maryazot, iron waste and oxidizing with hydrochloric acid, produced by entrepreneurs in our country, iron (III) chloride.

With the participation of specialists from the Institute of Chemistry and the Gyanli Polymer Plant, experiments were carried out with iron (III) chloride, obtained in laboratory conditions, to desalinate sea water. With the launch of distillers using local raw materials, scientists believe, the work of enterprises using sea water on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea will be facilitated.

The State Service for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan has approved limited patents for inventions. In the first half of the year, patents were obtained for “a method for producing modified sulfur” and “a method for producing iodimal, an antibacterial iodine-containing agent”. In 2011-2022, the Institute of Chemistry conducted research on 67 topics. During this period, 37 patents have been received, which are being introduced into production in various industries of the country. Based on the results of research and analysis carried out at the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, 9 monographs, scientific textbooks and scientific articles were published.
