2017 Asian Games Project presented at the SportAccord International Conference in Lausanne

The 2017 Asian Games Project was presented at the SportAccord International Conference in Lausanne (Switzerland). SportAccord is a global sports and political event that annually brings together more than 100 representatives of international sports federations, the members of the executive committees of the International Olympic Committee, the International University Sports Federation, representatives of cities - organizers of major sports events.


Within the framework of the trip to Switzerland, the members of the delegation of Turkmenistan, including representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the UEFA Secretary General. The issues related to the show-jumping competitions were discussed during the meeting with the specialists of the International Equestrian Federation. The issues on the promotional support to the Games and their popularization were also considered during the meeting.

Moreover, the delegation of the executive committee on the preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games attended a session of the Oceania National Olympic Committees General Assembly taken place in Port Vila, Republic of Vanuatu.


The presentation of the 2017 Asian Games and the talks on the opportunities of cooperation with the Oceania National Olympic Committees and organization of the Games took place during the session. The representatives of our country held meetings with the heads and specialists of 17 National Olympic Committees that will participate in the large sports forum in Ashgabat together with 45 Asian states next year.

The General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees will bring together more than 1,000 heads of the National Olympic Committees and all sports federations in the State of Qatar on November 15-16. The presentation of the 2017 Asian Games will take place during the session.


The V Asian Indoor and Martial Games (AIMAG) will be held in the Olympic Village in Ashgabat on September 17-27, 2017. The unique Olympic Village hosts 30 sports facilities, including the biggest in the region Olympic stadium. Over 5,000 athletes representing 62 countries will compete for 218 sets of medals during the 2017 Asian Games.

The sports program includes 21 sports: chess, futsal, tennis, Thai boxing, sambo, kurash, jiu-jitsu, bowling, cycling (track), swimming, basketball (3/3), weightlifting, athletics, taekwondo, sports dancing , kickboxing, belt wrestling, wrestling, billiards, jumping, and goresh national Turkmen wrestling.
