Festival of Japanese culture "Matsuri-30" ended in Ashgabat

On the occasion of the anniversary date - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Japan, the festival of Japanese culture "Matsuri-30" was held in Turkmenabat and Mary.

The final cultural events of the festival were held on October 14th, 15th and 16th at the venues of the Turkmen capital.

The guests, who arrived from Japan, visited the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva, presented several films of Japanese cinema at the Ashgabat cinema. The large-scaled exhibition-presentation in the capital's Mukams Palace was also launched. At the site of the State Cultural Center of the country, Ashgabat residents and guests of the Turkmen capital could feel the spirit of the traditions of Japan and fully experience the atmosphere of the Japanese festival.

Translated from Japanese, the word "Matsuri" means "festivity". What Japanese holiday can do without a tea ceremony, preparation of national dishes and colorful kimonos? The program of cultural events, organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan, was arranged so that each visitor could try on the traditional costumes of Japanese girls and boys, treat themselves to rolls, taste Japanese “matcha” tea, and listen to music played on Japanese national instruments.

In addition, visitors to “Matsuri-30” were invited to master the Japanese art of folding paper figures - origami, get acquainted with Japanese technologies and shake the paw of “AIBO” - most unusual dog-robot. In Ashgabat, the guests of the festival were warmly welcomed by volunteers - students of the Engineering and Technology University named after Oguz Khan. The Turkmen university actively cooperates with the Japanese University of Tsukuba, from which teachers and professors in the field of technology and the Japanese language were sent to our country. At the same time, students of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University have the opportunity to study in Japan.

The festival, which was held, became clear evidence of long-term Turkmen-Japanese friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Japan, cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres has been successfully developing. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted in his congratulatory letter to the leadership of Japan, Turkmenistan is interested in expanding bilateral cooperation and expressed confidence that, as a result of joint efforts, bilateral cooperation will continue to develop in the interests of friendly peoples.
