Turkmenistan counts on the continuation and expansion of partnership between Uzbekistan in the energy sector and in transport. The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said this during the talks in Ashgabat with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“We look forward to continuing and expanding our partnership in the energy sector. Our common asset already has a major energy project implemented - the  Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline,” said the head of state .

He expressed his readiness to consider, together with the Uzbek partners, the possibilities for a significant increase in energy supplies and expansion of their transit configuration.

Also, according to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the unconditional priority of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is the transport sector.

The President of Turkmenistan noted that the efforts of the two states can and should be aimed at achieving the main goal - the creation of a powerful and modern infrastructure that would ensure the unification of the transport systems of Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In particular, the head of Turkmenistan expressed readiness for joint work on the development of the transport route Uzbekistan Turkmenistan - the Caspian Sea - further through the Black Sea ports with access to Europe.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized: “Here I would like to note the importance of building up efforts for the speedy implementation of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar transport corridor project”.
