The United Nations Population Fund in Turkmenistan and the United States Agency for International Development Government Support Program USAID are training trainers for the Civil Registry Offices of Turkmenistan (CRO).
The trainers will learn the skills of family therapy, which includes teaching and counseling young couples on topics such as family values, promotion of positive social and family norms, gender equality, reproductive rights.
The training of trainers has already been held in Mary velayat, and in the future it is planned to organize in Lebap velayat.
USAID Representative in Turkmenistan Nino Nadiradze noted that the trainings are based on joint support for young couples in the formation and maintenance of strong and healthy family relationships.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan is implementing the National Action Plan for Gender Equality for 2021-2025, which outlines practical steps in this area. The document also provides for capacity building of national institutions and professionals in the field of gender equality.
