Issues of interaction between human rights and law enforcement institutions were discussed at the seminar

Within the framework of the joint project of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan with the office of the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan «Improving the institutional capacity of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan», a seminar «Principles of interaction between national human rights institutions and law enforcement agencies» was held in the UN building in Ashgabat.

As reported on the website of the Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan, during the seminar, an employee of the Ombudsman's Office spoke on the topic «Legal basis for interaction between the Ombudsman's Office and law enforcement agencies». The UNDP expert in his speech highlighted the topic «International principles relating to the independence of the judiciary, the role of lawyers and law enforcement officials». In the ensuing discussions, the workshop participants reviewed the legislative, administrative and other recommendations of experts on the topics covered.
