On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Neutrality, the Week of World Theater Classics was opened in Turkmenistan under the motto «Hemişelik Bitaraplyk – parahatçylyk we dost-doganlyk joşguny».
From December 6 to 12, the theaters of the country will host performances created on the basis of classical plays of foreign dramaturgy, as well as theatrical performances based on works of Turkmen literature.
The theatrical marathon was opened with the play «Romeo and Juliet» based on the classic work of the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare.
On December 7 at 19:00 on the stage of the Main Academic Drama Theater named after S. Turkmenbashy the Great, another show of Shakespeare's most tender work, which causes delight at all times, will take place.
On December 9 at 19:00, the actors of the Drama Theater named after S. Turkmenbashy the Great will play the plot of the comedy performance «The Bear» based on the play of the same name by the Russian writer and playwright Anton Pavlovich Chekhov.
On December 8 at 19:00, the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater invites you to visit the comedy performance «The Marriage of Balzaminov» based on the play by the outstanding Russian playwright Alexander Ostrovskiy.
On December 9 at 19:00, the audience will be presented with the musical comedy «Arshin Mal Alan» based on the operetta of the same name by the Azerbaijani composer and playwright Uzeyir Hajibeyov.
On December 10 at 19:00, the play «Iron Woman» will be shown based on the script by the Uzbek writer Sharaf Bashbekov.
Theatrical performances based on the works of famous European writers will be held at the Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater.
December 9 at 12:00 «Kid and Carlson» created based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren.
The same evening, for an adult audience, a performance-holiday will be presented with a cunningly intricate plot, endless masquerades, deceit and revelations - «Inventive Lover». The plot is based on a play by the Spanish writer Lope de Vega.
On December 9 at 19:00, the Alp Arslan National Drama Theater will show the play «The White Steamboat» based on the work of the same name by the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
On December 12 at 19:00, the premiere of the play «Oscar» staged by based on the play by the French playwright Claude Magnier.
The week of world theatrical classics is organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
