The first snow in the New Year 2023 fell at night of 8-9 January in Ashgabat. Having tried on itself a snowy dress, within a day, the white marble-coated capital of Turkmenistan has turned into a winter fairy tale.

Today, all streets of the city are covered with snow. Children, who enjoy their winter holidays, with pleasure haste out to play snowballs outdoors or to make a snowman together. Grownups also truly enjoy the winter weather by choosing walking for themselves.

White and fluffy snow –s a real wonder of nature, a symbol of regeneration and purification. Turkmens hold a belief that the white colour is a harbinger of bright and happy events in life. The Turkmen saying also reflects it: “Ak zat alnyňa ýagşy”.

And if we recall the fact that Ashgabat has been included in the Guinness’s World Records Books as the whitest white marble coated city in the world, then the feeling of a white snow fairy tale doubles.

All the day snow falls from the sky either hurling as large soft flakes or slowing snow dust. Snow turns the city into a wonderful world of fairy tales.

The first snowfall of the year 2023 fully gave an opportunity to feel the atmosphere of winter solemnities by having become a unique present of nature for Turkmen nationals.
