The name of the master of monumental, easel and decorative sculpture Nurmuhammed Atayev is well-known not only in our country but abroad as well. That is why the exhibition arouse keen interest of his colleagues and all lovers of visual arts. The consonance of ideas and thoughts translated via plastic of shapes characterizes creative creed of the sculptor. Release of the book by Altynjemal Bayliyeva, dedicated to creative work of Nurmuhammed Atayev, is timed to the opening of the exhibition. Nurmuhammed Atayev is the winner of numerous state and international competitions for the best sculpture projects, including those dedicated to outstanding statesmen, thinker and poets. There is large gallery of sculptural images made in honour of Magtumguly, Mollanepes, Pushkin, Byashim Nuraly, Luis Corvalan and others.
Historical theme occupies large place in works of the sculptor. Declaration of the Independence of Turkmenistan roused the artist to create works, which are filled with aspiration for understanding of previous events, search for new images and shapes of plastic incarnation. It was reflected in the works dedicated to the heroes of the Gyok-depe fortress, victims of the 1948 earthquake, heroic deeds of the warriors.
Sculptures of outstanding personalities, who left deep trace in the history of Turkmen peoplesuch as Yildyz Khan, Gun Khan, Deniz Khan and Ay Khan, Baba Gammar, Alp Arslan, Myane-baba, Linguist Mahmoud Kashgary, the first who made “the Divan of Turks Languages”, poets Annaklych Myataji, Ahmed Sarakhsy, Yusup Balasagunly, Mollanepes and others, were presented to the visitors.
Group compositions of the sculptor, including embossed work “Kemine among the people”, which is filled with national colour and feeling of the time, lyrical images “In the Garden”, “Arzuv”, “Motherhood” are very interesting. Warriors from compositions “Infantry” and “Mounted Division”, dedicated to the heroes of 1941 – 1945 war, are impressive. The figures of ahalteke horses are unique and inimitable. Each horse shows its restiveness, impetuosity and inspiration as if they were revived.
The image of ahalteke horse always occupied special place in the works of the artist, mainly because he was brought up in rural area. The sculptor used to say that admiration of ahalteke horses always lived in his heart and he understands with the years what how important the horse is in life of the people and its history.
Versatile and stylistically rich creative work of the sculptor went beyond exhibition halls long time ago. His monuments decorate the streets and squares of the cities in the country supplementing them with ideological and imagery harmony. There are monuments of composer Nury Halmamedov in Ashgabat, poet and warrior Seidy in Lebap velayat, writer Berdy Kerbabayev in Tejen, heroes of 1941 – 1945 war in Baharly etrap and many other. His bronze winged horses, the Pegasuses literally hovers above the colonnade of the building of the Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan, symbolizing the inspiration of creative powers of the nation and the flowering of Turkmen art.
