Within the framework of development of the cultural dialogue between Turkmenistan and the United States of America, a world-known film producer and scenario writer Michael Fitzgerald, who arrived in the Turkmen capital with a working visit, was received at the Turkmen Government and a number of the institutions of the sphere of culture.
As is known, the Turkmen leader’s visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art that is one of the renowned art museums in the world within the framework of the working visit to New York, where President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated in a roundtable dedicated to the issues of cultural cooperation, offered a powerful incentive to development of the Turkmen-American cultural contacts. It should be noted that the new initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to create a virtual gallery of the Turkmen art that will widely represent the richness and originality of the creative traditions and the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people aroused the keen interest among the workers of culture of the United States. The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan held in the United States in autumn of 2011on occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the United States promoted to it.
It was noted during the meeting at the Government of Turkmenistan that the large-scale social and economic changes taken place in the country on the initiative of the Turkmen leader had launched a new stage in the process of development of the national country, in particular its key aspects, including promotion of the historical and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people in a wide international format, and activation of the of the international dialogue in this sphere. The huge cultural potential of our country and widening of the international contacts in this sphere arouse keen interest in the Turkmen state among the representatives of the creative circles throughout the world.
According to the guest, the increasing interest of the American cinematographers in Turkmenistan is caused by the availability of a significant number of historical and cultural values of the national and the world importance in our country.
The meeting participants stated with satisfaction that organisation of international exhibitions, conferences and festivals in Turkmenistan and the United States with participation of the representatives of the two countries contributed to brining the fraternal and friendly relations established between our countries up to a new level. Organisation of art exhibitions and the days of cinematography of the two states that serve as a bridge between the cultures of the two peoples has become a good tradition.
