The Day of German Economy in Turkmenistan was held in Yyldyz hotel of the capital. Heads of the government departments and sate organizations for business development of the FRG took part in the forum organized by the Trade and Industrial Chamber and Representative Mission of German Economy in the Central Asia. There were businessmen of around 70 companies, specialized in different spheres of economy, such as «Robert Bosch», «Wilhelm Layher GmbH&CO.KG», «MC Bauchemie Müller GmbH&Co.KG», «Trubatec GmbH», «Germany Trade and Invest», «Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung» and others, in the delegation of friendly country to Turkmenistan. Representatives of the ministries and departments, state and joint-stock commercial banks, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs took part in the meeting from Turkmen side.
The agenda of the meeting, which have been held already for 6 times, included the subjects of further intensification of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation built of equal and long-term base. The Participants of the business forum also discussed the opportunities of wide implementation of high technologies and innovations to different spheres of national economy, advanced practices and consolidation of relations in training of personnel as well as perspectives of realization of new joint projects.
Making welcoming speech, authorized representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the FRG for South Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Andreas Peshke stated with delight that long bilateral cooperation has been filled with new quality content recently. The guest highlighted that Germany highly appreciates open door policy of Turkmenistan led by the Head of Turkmenistan. Foreign policy course, based on the principles of neutral status and aimed at development of successful dialog with all countries of the world, serves as a key factor of provision of security in the region.
It was mentioned that close trustful dialog, established between Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, enhances the expansion of interstate relations. The visit of the Head of Turkmenistan to the FRG in August of the current year, which outcomes confirmed mutual interests of the sides to bring traditional cooperation to new level, meeting its considerable potential, became an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations. Special accent was made on the importance of regular days of Turkmenistan economy in Germany as well as Days of German Economy in our country, which promotes consolidation of full-scale bilateral cooperation, establishment of new business contacts between government and private structures of both countries.
Steadily developing trade and economic relations, where considerable role is given to the activity of the Joint Turkmen – German Work Group, are also the evidence of high level of relations between our states. Thus, this indicator made 306 million of dollars for 2015.
The participants of the forum highlighted that Turkmenistan and the FRG express keen mutual interest to intensification of efficient partnership what is indicated by successful contacts of Turkmen business circles with representatives of German business. 29 economic entities of Germany opened their affiliates and representative offices in our country. 169 joint projects in leading spheres of national economy have been accomplished with participation of German companies and number of projects are still under realization.
The reports of the representatives of the ministries and branch departments included comprehensive information of economic opportunities of Turkmenistan, perspective directions of cooperation, which meets the priorities of the state development. Currently, Turkmenistan successfully implements programmes for social and economic transformation, which are expected for middle- and long-term perspectives. The colossal potential of Turkmen economy is visually demonstrated by the indicators reflecting stable character of its development.
In particular, it was mentioned that total volume of drawn investments for 1991 – 2015 made more than 144 billion of US dollars, which considerable part was used for development of main production funds of the country. Number of production and non-production facilities, which were built and put into operation, reached 544.
Introducing the aspects of legal protection of the activity of foreign investors and enterprises with foreign capitals to the participants, the speakers highlighted that relative infrastructure is being developed for improvement of attractiveness of financing of the economy of Turkmenistan, legal framework of the investment process, taking into account international requirements for protection of investors’ rights, is being steadily improved. The Government renders essential support to foreign partners in form of tax, custom, visa, insurance and other benefits. As a result, share of the investments into production of the gross domestic product grows steadily; number of perspective projects and joint ventures is being increased.
It was emphasized that realization of new investment programmes, which implementation directly connected with diversification of national economy and involvement of largest German companies, financial and business structures, with which positive experience is acquired during joint work on number of important directions, would promote further intensification of productive cooperation.
At the same time, it was noted that our country is interested in attraction of large capital, advanced technologies, supplies of modern and production equipment from Germany. From its side, Turkmenistan is willing to increase the export of competitive domestic goods to the FRG.
Fuel and energy complex and electrical energy sphere, chemical industry, production of construction materials, light industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, transport and logistic sphere were called among the priority direction of partnership in economics.
Representatives of the business circles of Germany expressed the interest in their speeches in expansion of its presence in perspective Turkmen market, which is stipulated both by colossal considerable economic and resource potential of our state and the scales of progressive reforms undertaken by the initiative of the Leader of the Nation. It was mentioned that scientifically based programmes of Turkmenistan for modernization and diversification of the economy, establishment of enterprises for production of import substitutive and export oriented goods are one of the factors of efficient partnership.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in financial and banking sphere, standardization and insurance fields, prospects of cooperation between private sectors.
The issues of consolidation of productive relations in educational, science and publich health spheres became separate subject of the discussion. It was mentioned that, while being one of the world leaders in advanced technologies in this spheres, Germany is willing to offer its experience, newest scientific and production developments. German partners also expressed their intention to continue successful cooperation in training of professional national specialists in above-mentioned spheres.
Plans for further cooperation were detailed during bilateral meetings of the heads of government structures and German companies with representatives of the ministries, departments and private sector of Turkmenistan.
