Together with employee of the Trade Union of Ahal velayat, we visit 69 year old woman Oguljemal Artyklyieva.
It seemed to be a simple tradition to share tasty dish with your neighbour but it is also a small brick in the foundation of traditions of our ancestors to live in peace and harmony with those who lives next to you. Oguljemal Dayza mentioned that Turkmen good neighbourhood starts from this. The woman said that Turkmen people always had a custom to entertain the neighbour with what was farmed in the garden, cooked in the house or baked in tamdyr (clay oven), in other words with the best of what you have. This tradition used to be called “gonshokara”. It, as a mirror, reflects high humane characters of our ancestors, their strive to live in peace and harmony with neighbours, to be friends. This ancient tradition received the status of national holiday in our days.
The story of Oguljemal Dayza on her good neighbours, those who live in the next houses, at the same street and the entire living estate was emotional and elevated. “All of us, Nazarovs, Atayevs, Gelenovs, Gochevs and other neighbours, just like our parents, live in one friendly family, - the woman said. – the life of people is full with different events, which we observe all together”.
The neighbours respond to the weddings, anniversaries, national holidays and memorial days, assisting to cook, lay the tables and of course participating directly in the events. Oguljemal Dyaza remembers stirring congratulations of the neighbours when she was awarded with Order «Zenan kalby» on the threshold of the 25th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan.
At the end of our conversation, Oguljemal Dayza took an opportunity and conveyed her greetings and good wishes to all people of Turkmenistan, people of different nations who live as one united family in blessed beautiful land and create its happy future.
