On the 10th of April, the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova with the Head of the Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan Ayna Seyitliyeva discussed the implementation of the country cooperation program for 2021-2025 and issues of enhancing cooperation in the field of youth policy.

Co-funded by the Government of Turkmenistan, the current UNFPA country program focuses on three key areas in line with the 2030 Agenda, namely:

- Reproductive health and rights to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe and every young person's potential is realized.

- Gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.

- Qualitative data for development is a collaboration in the field of population dynamics to obtain reliable population data, including from the results of the 2022 Population and Housing Census, for use in national planning to achieve the SDGs.

At the same time, the well-being and development of youth is seen as a cross-cutting issue for all these key areas.

The website of the UNFPA country office also has a special information platform «Yashlyk», which contains materials for boys and girls, young men and young women - about puberty, emotional health, gender equality, reproductive health. A separate section is provided for parents who can find information on how to start talking to their children about growing up and what advice to give them so that they grow up healthy and confident. Many information resources are addressed to teachers who teach about reproductive health and gender equality in secondary schools in Turkmenistan. All articles on the «Yashlyk» platform are factual and verified by a healthcare professional.
