Environmental protection and ecological culture is the theme of the competition announced among students of grades 10-11 of secondary schools of Turkmenistan by the Scientific and Methodological Center for Sustainable Development Goals of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The competition will be held in the form of testing. Participants will be asked 100 questions and 100 minutes to answer them. The questions were prepared by the IMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country on the basis of school textbooks for high school students and the book by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Turkmenistan on the way to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals". Those wishing to take part in the competition must register before May 12 of this year by sending personal data to the organizing committee at the email address sdgcentre40@gmail.com. A sample questionnaire, participation rules and other useful information are also available on the above-mentioned IMO website of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The competition will be held on May 17 at 10:00 in an online format simultaneously for all participants from the capital and regions of the country. Competition venues:
Ashgabat and Akhal velayat - Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan;
Balkan velayat - branch of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldy Kakaev;
Dashoguz velayat - Turkmen Agricultural Institute;
Lebap velayat - Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Seydi;
Mary velayat - State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.
The winners of the competition will be awarded with Diplomas of I, II and III degrees and memorable gifts from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the UN Office in Turkmenistan.
As the organizers emphasize, Turkmenistan is an active participant in international activities aimed at protecting the environment and solving important issues in the field of ecology. The constructive initiatives of our country in this area find great support in the world community. Within the framework of the country, large-scale work is being successfully carried out to ensure environmental well-being, turn the native land into a blooming garden, enrich and preserve the unique flora and fauna of Turkmenistan.
Based on this, the main goal of the competition is to raise awareness among young people about environmental culture and the challenges in the field of ecology, as well as to attract the younger generation to the joint solution of these problems.
