The development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in the field of education was discussed in the capital of Japan

The delegation of Turkmenistan visited the capital of Japan, Tokyo, where a number of important meetings were held on the development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in the field of science and education.

Promising areas of cooperation were discussed during the meeting of the heads of the two Higher Schools of Diplomacy - the rector of the Institute of International Relations Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev and the General Director of the Japan Institute of International Relations, Professor Tomiko Ichikawa. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov and representatives of both sides.

The participants considered the possibilities of scientific and academic exchange, establishing a dialogue at the expert level, organizing research publications and jointly conducting online lectures. Attention was focused on the tasks in the field of youth policy, in particular, strengthening the role of youth in international relations and promoting the measures taken in Turkmenistan to implement the strategy of international youth cooperation.

The issues of strengthening academic partnership and scientific ties were also discussed at the meeting of the Rector of the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the head of the Department for Central, East Asia and the Caucasus of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Hirosawa Masayuki and the head of the Department of Humanitarian Development and Higher Education, the head of work with higher educational institutions of this agency Daisuke Ueda.

During the meeting, the proposal to assist JICA in equipping the IIR training studio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as key issues of cooperation in the field of information technology and the creation of an innovation cluster with the participation of the Japanese side was considered. Particular attention was paid to the topics of student exchange and international youth interaction.

It was emphasized that significant experience of cooperation between the two countries has been accumulated on the issues discussed. As the rector of the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted, in different years, students and teachers of the IIR visited the Land of the Rising Sun on study visits organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and successfully implemented the experience gained in the educational work of the institute.

Another meeting in Tokyo was held in the format of a round table at Soka University with the participation of the leaders of this university and the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the head and staff of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan, teachers and students of a Japanese university.

The main theme of the round table was devoted to cooperation in the field of science, education and youth policy. The parties discussed various issues related to holding online lectures, the exchange of delegations, and the publication of scientific materials in specialized publications.

Representatives of universities mutually noted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding opportunities for students, teachers, professors in the field of education and research. It was emphasized that activities in this area will facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge.

Particular attention was paid to the signing of the interuniversity Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation. The parties came to an agreement on the development of student and teacher exchange programs, as well as holding joint events such as conferences, seminars, trainings, etc. The students of the University of Tokyo, in turn, expressed their interest in the development of youth policy and the possibility of participating in international exchange. Students noted that this interaction helps to broaden their horizons, as well as improve the quality of education.

The meetings held by representatives of leading institutions in the field of education, international relations and diplomacy of Turkmenistan and Japan have become an important step towards strengthening and enriching fruitful interaction and bilateral ties.
