The main New Year tree of the country was lightened up by bright illuminations of the lighting garlands, having ceremonially announced of the coming of the favourite holiday, the New Year.
Every year, the spectacular show takes place at the square in front of «Alem» Cultural and entertainment centre where traditionally all big events are held. The magic of winter fairy tale with participation of popular singers and theatre bands, young artists and of course the favourite heroes – Ayaz Baba and Garpamyk, starts there.
True Christmas tree city is located at the square with majestic fluffy beauty of 39 meters height crowned by the octagonal star with 2017 figure. The splendid attire made of thousands of bright decorations, bows and lights is highlighted by successive pictures of riding ahalteke horses and wishes of Happy New Year on the monitor belting the base of the grandiose tree.
Thousands of young Ashgabat citizens and guests of the capital, folk and dance bands, circus and theatre artists in carnival dresses, heroes of favourite Turkmen fairy tales gathered around the tree awaiting for magic performance.
To find and bring the main magician of New Year fairy tale, Ayaz Baba, who is the master of people’s favourite narrative genre and clownery, the capabilities of satellite communication were used and the winter lord was located at the top of the Ayrybaba Mountain in Koytendag in Lebap velayat.
Traditionally, the celebration tour of the grey-bearded old man and his young companion lays along the places of the events, which marked the year of 2016. The motorcade of Ayaz Baba was warmly welcomed at Ymamnazar railway station, which is brightly decorated in these pre-New year days. The guests were greeted by the art bands of the regions with theatre performances and by young Lebap citizens with dances, songs and verses around green tree. Holiday gifts from the main magician of winter were deserving awards for the kids.
Having familiarized with new constructions, where the procession was met and escorted with wishes of good and happiness at each facility, Ayaz Baba with his friends, the comics and musicians, continued his way to the capital.
Long-expected delegation was met by new International Airport and by the children who came to the capital from all parts of our big country for celebration of New Year. Numerous citizens of Ashgabat were greeting joyful procession on its way. The motorcade and caravan with gifts that joined the delegation proceeded along the Archabil Avenue to the square of «Alem» Cultural and entertainment centre.
Finally, long-awaited guests, greeted by ringing and cheerful songs of the kids, proceeded through brightly illuminated arch and striking carnival filled the square with the main Christmas tree of the country. Fantastic New Year performance with participation of theatre bands of the capital, young artists of the Palace of Children and Youth, art schools and popular singers was spread around evergreen queen of the event under atmosphere of magic and mystery.
Happy laughter, flashing jokes and charades, funny dances and scenery with participation of favourite characters of national Turkmen fairy tales, the whole whirl of outstanding adventures thrilled not only the children but also numerous adult Ashgabat citizens and the guests of the capital. Tasty gifts and surprises from Ayaz Baba were the best awards for the children.

Lightning installation with the emblem of 2017 Asian Games and the icons of different sports included into the programme of the Games runs up the tree in spiral. It was sounded as peculiar wishes of high results and achievements to our sportsmen in the forthcoming grandiose international sport forum in Ashgabat in 2017.
