12 medals - this is the result of the performance of athletes of Turkmenistan at two Asian kurash wrestling tournaments, which took place in Hangzhou (PRC) - the capital of the XIX Summer Asian Games. Our compatriots won eight of them at the Asian Championship, in which 14 sets of medals in seven male and seven female weight categories were contested by more than 100 athletes from 20 countries.

The silver medal in the women's team of Turkmenistan was awarded to Ayshirin Haydarova (weight category up to 48 kg) from Turkmenabat, and the bronze medals went to Aynur Amanova (up to 52 kg) from Turkmenabat, Jahan Muhammedova (up to 87 kg) from the city of Seydi.

In the men's team, bronze success was achieved by: 5th year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Shamuhammet Gurbanov (up to 66 kg), coach Shatlyk Jumaniyazov (up to 73 kg) from Turkmenabat, physical education teacher at Ashgabat secondary school №55 Ishanmyrat Atayev (up to 90 kg), student 2 course of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Shatlyk Torayev (up to 100 kg) and Tejen Tejenov (over 100 kg) from the sports club of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan.

Following the Asian Championship in Hangzhou, the Asian qualifying round of the «Kurash: World Series Pro» tournament for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. According to its regulations, the winners received tickets to the final Grand Prix tournament, which is scheduled to be held in September in Tashkent. This right in the team of Turkmenistan was achieved by Ishanmurad Ataev (up to 90 kg), Tejenov Tejenov (over 100 kg), Ainur Amanova (up to 52 kg) and Jahan Mukhammedova (up to 87 kg) who won bronze medals.

Our masters of kurash prepared for the competitions in Hangzhou under the guidance of the head coach of the national team of Turkmenistan and the school of higher sportsmanship of the State Sports Committee of the country Dortguly Tejenov and the coach of the sports school of the Sports Committee of the Lebap velayat Shirin Kubayeva.

According to the mentors of our team, the competitions held in China were a good test of strength before the main start of the year - the XIX Summer Asian Games, which will be held from the 23rd of September to 8th of October, 2023 in Hangzhou.
