It would not be an exaggeration to say that the «Central Asia-China» summit coming on the 18th to 19th of May in the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an attracts the attention of the whole world.

Here, the Chinese initiative «One Belt - One Road» is organically combined with Ashgabat's initiative to revive the Great Silk Road in a modern format. Turkmenistan stands for the creation of a powerful and modern infrastructure that ensures the integration of the transport systems of Asia, Europe, the Middle East, as well as the maximum use of the potential of the port infrastructure of the eastern Caspian, in particular the port of Turkmenbashy, to enter world markets.

We are talking about the construction of an extensive, complex, combined infrastructure of transport communication and transit, covering the spaces of continental Eurasia with access to the sea terminals of the Black Sea and Baltic regions, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

This project also implies the prospect of connecting to the transport infrastructure in the southern and eastern directions with access to such powerful economic centers as China, India, Pakistan, and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. This means the creation of a new, even larger format of cooperation, which is an example of truly innovative thinking in the global geo-economy, a vision of the strategic prospects for its development.

The international seaport of Turkmenbashy on the Caspian Sea acquires strategic importance here. It is intended to become the most important link in the formation of a modern system of maritime transportation, creating the most favorable conditions for access to the Black Sea, to the countries of Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. This allows to significantly reduce distances and travel time for large-scale cargo flows, bringing economic and trade cooperation between the countries of Asia and Europe to a qualitatively new level.
