The International Festival of Student Theaters of the Turkic World was held in the capital of Uzbekistan for the first time. The project, organized with the assistance of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, brought together students of Fine Arts Universities from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan on one platform.

In the festival program, students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture performed the play "Oguz rowaýaty", based on the work of the writer Juma Khudaiguliyev "Şöhleli hatyn". This production is the graduate thesis of Tagryberdy Ataev, a student at the Faculty of Theater Arts and studying the basics of directing.

The plot was based on the conflict between fathers and children, which entailed dramatic consequences. Having tried on the images of the heroes of the work, the students fully conveyed the semantic message of the performance and received a worthy assessment from foreign experts.

Ibragim Durdyev, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Theater Arts of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, was awarded in the nomination "Best Supporting Actor" for the expressiveness of performance and successfully embodied image.

We are very glad that we have taken part in an international theater project, – says Ibragim Durdyev. – For us, as for novice artists, this is the first experience of performing at a foreign venue. We have watched the performances of our peers from other countries with great interest. We really wanted our work to be noted by the jury. And now the dream has come true. I am grateful to all the teachers of our university, especially Maral Durdyeva, who taught me how to take my first steps on stage.

In addition to the performances of theatrical productions, an educational workshop was held for students. Future artists took part in acting trainings, discussions and presentations of training manuals on acting and directing. Rectors of Fine Arts Universities also discussed the educational process and mutual exchange programs.

Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, has noted that the main goals of the festival are support, motivation and creation of opportunities for future theater artists. In the future, it is planned to hold this festival on an annual basis.
