The association "Turkmenfilm" named after Oghuz Khan has launched two new full-length feature films - "Composer" ("Kompozitor") and "Turabek - the Beauty of Gurgench" ("Gürgenç gözeli Törebeg").

Maksat Gylyjov, scriptwriter and director of the film "Composer", will invite the audience to the magical world of music, where such luminaries of world music culture as Bach, Mozart and Beethoven created, and where Turkmen composer Nury Halmamedov left a distinctive mark.

At the age of 19, he wrote his first romance, choosing for it "Exile", one of the most tragic poems of great Magtymguly; at the age of 22, he created a famous play "Sounds of Dutar" dedicated to a legendary dutar player Mylly Tachmyradov; at the age of 23, he composed symphony "Turkmenistan" which was presented at his final exams in the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky and performed by the Great Symphony Orchestra of the All-Union Radio and Television.

More than fifty works were written for the piano by Nury Halmamedov. The talented Turkmen composer created vocal cycles based on the poems of Sergei Yesenin "Persian Motifs" and Heinrich Heine "Human Hearts". Nury Halmamedov's national fame was brought by his film music, written for such films as "The Contest", "Bitter Fate", "Secrets of Mukam", "The Decisive Step".

Vepa Ishangulyev, the author of the script and director of the film "Turabek - the Beauty of Gurgench" uses historical evidence left to descendants by the famous medieval traveler, pilgrim and merchant Ibn Battuta from Morocco, who in the XIV century traveled through Central Asia, visiting Urgench, Bukhara, Karshi, Samarkand and Termez. In his notes, the wanderer described architectural monuments, popular places and holy objects in detail. Ibn Battuta dedicated a separate chapter to the city of Urgench, the capital of the Khorezm state.

The film tells the story of a teenager named Gulmerdan, who sets out on a journey to meet Turabek Khanym, who was the daughter of the Golden Horde Khan Uzbek Khan and the wife of Kutlug Timur, the ruler of Kunyaurgench. There are many legends associated with the name of Turabek Khanym, and her mausoleum is considered a unique architectural miracle that has no analogues in the world. A color image of its fantastically beautiful dome is available in any European publication on the art of Central Asia or on Islamic architecture.

New creative projects of Turkmen cinematographers are another confirmation that the artistic understanding of various layers of the national cultural heritage and its promotion by means of cinematography is one of the main directions in the activities of "Turkmenfilm".
