One of the main events of 2023 in Turkmenistan was the large-scale celebrations held on June 29 on the occasion of the opening of the country's first "smart" city of Arkadag, which received a unique status of a city of national importance at the legislative level.

Representatives of 29 international news agencies, TV channels and Internet portals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, France, Georgia, Hungary, Georgia, India, Iran, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan were accredited to cover the activities on the occasion of this historic event in Turkmenistan.

To date, over two hundred news reports and videos dedicated to the opening of the new city have been published in the world media.

These materials note that the new city of Arkadag is a vivid example of a "smart city", which integrates digital, information and communication and "green" technologies. The best traditions of national architecture and modern trends in construction and design are harmoniously combined here. The city has a comprehensive infrastructure that meets international standards, including in the field of ecology and environmental protection.

The significance of this mega-project is evidenced by more than 20 international certificates and awards in the field of sustainable development, environmental friendliness and innovative solutions, which were awarded to the city of Arkadag.

It is noteworthy that correspondents of "SNG.Today" and the film crew of the Interstate TV and Radio Company "MIR" were accredited in Turkmenistan during these days. In addition, a new newspaper "Arkadag" and a TV channel of the same name were added to the national media.
