Bowling is a relatively young sports in our country. The National Federation of Bowling was established at the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan in 2014. The country hosted the first bowling championship in 2015 and the second one in 2016. The tournaments demonstrated the huge potential of Turkmen athletes and prospects for development of bowling in the country. The athletes, who achieved the best results in 2016, were included in the national team of Turkmenistan.
The National Federation is a member of the Asia Bowling Federation. For the first time, the national team of Turkmenistan participated in the international tournament – 24th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship in Hong Kong in September, 2016.
In 2017, the national team of Turkmenistan will represent our country in the Open Bowling Championship in Almaty and 43rd International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong.
During the 2017 Asian Games, athletes will compete for six sets of medals – three sets in men’s events and three sets in women’s events.
At present, our athletes prepare for the large sports event, participating in micro tournaments, practicing techniques and improving the statistics of points to determine the tactics of individual work. The results are summed up and new tasks are set up at the end of each month.
There are standard requirements and norms for bowling equipment. All linear parameters of the equipment are strictly regulated. The bowling alley, located in the ultramodern Athletics complex on the Olympic Village, is equipped with the technology system of the Brunswick Company (USA) and the inventory from the world leaders in the bowling equipment production.
