Priority issues of Turkmen-American cooperation, first of all, the prospects for further development of inter-parliamentary relations, became the main topic of discussion at the meeting held today in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan with a visiting delegation of the House of Representatives of the US Congress.
Warmly welcoming the guests, Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova emphasized the special importance attached by our country to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, which directly contribute to a fruitful interstate dialogue in all areas.
Within the framework of the meeting, the guests were acquainted with the structure and activities of the national parliament, designed to promote the speedy implementation of the grandiose tasks of the Revival era of the new epoch of a powerful state.
As noted, at present, a solid legislative base has been created in Turkmenistan, which has absorbed the best world experience in this area. Important laws and regulations developed and adopted in recent years have given a steady momentum to the innovative reforms initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero Arkadag and successfully continued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Members of the delegation of the House of Representatives of the US Congress emphasized the importance of the policy of positive neutrality pursued by sovereign Turkmenistan, which has become an effective tool of preventive diplomacy in order to strengthen global peace and security.
Positively assessing the achieved high level of Turkmen-American relations, which are successfully developing today both in a bilateral and multilateral format, including through the largest international and regional organizations, the parties confirmed the desire to give new impetus to the traditional multifaceted partnership, initially built on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
Taking into account the existing great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, opportunities were discussed for establishing closer ties between the parliamentarians of the two countries and exchanging experience in the field of lawmaking.
At the end of the meeting, which was held in a constructive, trusting manner, its participants expressed confidence that the intensification of the inter-parliamentary dialogue would directly serve the progressive building up of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States of America, strengthening the ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
