The President of Turkmenistan voiced the initiatives of Ashgabat at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Dushanbe, said that Turkmenistan will continue to actively work during the upcoming 78th session of the UN General Assembly and will propose a number of initiatives for consideration by the world community, including those directly related to development Central Asian region.

In particular, according to the head of state, first, Turkmenistan will propose to create, under the auspices of the UN, a meeting on Security and Cooperation Dialogue in Central Asia, with the aim of developing approaches and solutions aimed at bringing closer and synchronizing the efforts of the Central Asian countries in ensuring sustainable, conflict-free development of the region.

The head of Turkmenistan especially noted his readiness to host the first scheduled meeting of such a meeting in 2024.

According to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, second, consultations with relevant UN agencies will be proposed to determine the optimal format and structure of the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin (UN SPAS).

«Third, is the establishment of a specialized structure - the Regional Center for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia. We are ready to provide all the necessary infrastructure to locate this Centre in Ashgabat», the President of Turkmenistan emphasized.
