Iran Cultural Week in Ashgabat aims at mutual enrichment of the cultures and expansion of creative cooperation

Heads and specialists of cultural institutions, art bands and master of national handcrafts arrived to Turkmenistan to participate in the forum organized by the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the IRI and the Ministry of Culture of our country. The prospects of cooperation were discussed during official reception of the delegation of the IRI in the Ministry of Culture of our country.


Opening ceremony of Iran Cultural Week was held in Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Centre and gathered representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and its lower organizations, general public, diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, mass media, arts masters, lecturers and students of educational institutions.

Head of the Culture and Islamic Relations Organization, member of Supreme Cultural Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman leading the delegation and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the IRI to Turkmenistan Seyed Mohammad Ahmadi highlighted everlasting mutual interest to the richest cultural heritage of both peoples having long history of good neighbourhood relations.


The concert of the artists of friendly country at the stage of Mukam Palace was the first event of the programme of the Week. It included performances of Araz Folk band from Tebriz, the city with ancient history and culture, and Navaye Ilya band from Shiraz, the historical capital of Iran, famous as a city of poets, where Hafiz, the love singer and Saadi, the poet and thinker used to live.

Iranian artists presented folk tunes and songs, improvisation of classical destans, lyrical songs on the poems of oriental poets. Bright national dresses of the performers and unique sounds of ancient musical instruments added special colours to the show.

Modern compositions were also performed. The spectators warmly greeted the performance of children group of Araz Folk Band.

Loud applauses of the participants were the best appreciation of high skills of Iranian artists, who pass folk traditions of native people through generations. It goes without saying that this beautiful art event presented opportunity for Turkmen citizens to get closer acquaintance with cultural heritage and modern life of Iranian people and their traditions.


Under the Cultural Week of the IRI in Turkmenistan, the Exhibition Hall of the State Academy of Arts will held the exposition of decorative applied arts items of friendly country. Ashgabat citizens and the guest of the capital will be presented with the miniatures illustrating the works of the classics of Persian poetry, filigree articles made of wood, ceramics, samples of calligraphy, artistic text decoration as well as traditional dresses, metal embossing and enamel paintings, tapestry, different souvenirs and other works of Iranian masters.

The programme of the current action includes different creative events. the meeting of the representatives of decorative and applied arts of both countries is planned to be conducted in the Conference hall of the State Arts Academy. The spectators will be familiarized with Iranian cinematography in Ashgabat cinema, where recent movies will be demonstrated. The Turkmen State Puppet Theatre will host the concert of children art bands of two countries and Watan cinema and concert hall will hold the show of Iranian folk, song and music ensembles. Cultural Weeks of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be closed at the same place by joint concert.


Substantial cultural programme including the visits of historical monuments, national museums expositions and other places of interests of our country is prepared for the guests and participants of cultural event.
