The Sport Hotel of the capital Olympic village hold the events on occasion of the start of volunteer programme Ashgabat 2017, according to which registration of volunteers for V Asian Games would be held on February 9 – March 10. The students of all educational institutions will be able to send their applications for online registration in volunteers team at the Games in September.
The vent was opened by welcome speech of Chairman of the Executive Committee for preparation to Asian Games 2017 D. Gulgeldiyev who mentioned the importance of volunteer work in conduct of such large events and characterized main directions of training of the volunteers performed in close cooperation with the Executive Committee of the games, the State Committee for Sport and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
It was mentioned that number of tests and contests were held for selection of the volunteers. Participation in international competitions in Turkmen capital as well as large sport contest in Russia, China, republic of Korea and Azerbaijan helped them to gain practical skills.
General Director of British Trivandi Chanzo Limited Mick Wright expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in preparation for 2017 Asian Games. He also told about established partnership with 19 high educational institutions of our country, having mentioned the role of the Ministry of Education in this actively developing process. Mick wright said that 10 thousand specially trained volunteers are required for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Representatives of national Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, leaders of volunteer centres at universities of the country and students took part in the event. Sing, music and dance performances of young artists, number of Galkynysh acrobatic group attached celebration mood to the event organized by the Ministries of Education and Culture of Turkmenistan and the Executive Committee for preparation to V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Turkmen volunteers already had international training. They have working experience acquired during World Student Games in Kazan, IV Asian Indoor and martial Arts games and XVII Summer Asian Games held in Korean Incheon in 2013 and 2014 respectively and I European Games 2015 in Baku (Azerbaijan).
Training programme “Ashgabat 2017. The English for Volunteers” is being conducted in National Institute of Sports and Tourism since January 2015 with support of the USA Embassy and the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs. The volunteers of the capital educational institutions are the members of the programme. The students regularly attend English classes held by Michael price (the Head of the Programme) and his colleagues – Katy Espe, Hezer Walker and Jared Fitzpatrick – the authors of language methods for traning of volunteers of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Many of the volunteers speaks several foreign languages. Besides the language classes, large attention is paid to study of history and culture of Turkmenistan, foundation and development of sport movement of our country. The students also study key features of large-scale preparation work for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Their arsenal includes basic sport medicine training and good knowledge of information technologies.
Study of the attributes of national and international Olympic movements as well as sport and cultural events including in interuniversity level are held under preparation to V Asian Games. Senior pupils of the schools of the capital also take part in volunteer movement. The schedule of the capital interschool volunteer centre has number of events aimed at popularization of principle of personal growth and healthy life style among young generation.
