Important event in political and social life of independent neutral Turkmenistan – the Presidential Elections, the event that determines the strategy of further development of the country and indicates on adherence of our country to democratic values and the course on sustainable development, will take place of February 12. The current election campaign differs in the main from the Presidential Elections in 2007 and 2012. It undergoes under conditions of new political reality and improved legislation field. Thus, three political parties namely the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Agrarian Party take part for the first time in the Presidential elections. Six initiative groups of citizens were formed, which nominated their candidates for the post of the President.

We were convinced of the readiness to the elections having visited with our press photographer polling station No. 44 in Ashgabat.

The station is located in the building of the college what is announced by large bright sign at the entrance. We were warmly welcomed by Chairman of divisional election committee Aybolel Hydyrkukiyeva and Secretary of the committee Aygozel Chariyeva. In this moment, the voters from nearby houses came to the station to confirm if they are included to the lists and to familiarize with the programmes of the candidates to the post of the head of the state. On February 12, they will have to make responsible decision and choose most deserving candidates among nine aspirants to the highest government post.

The residents of micro district No. 9 of the capital, around 1256 people, will vote at this polling station. The lists of the constituents were carefully made not to forget any of the residents. Local administration and public volunteers rendered assistance to the committee in this. Fifteen days prior to the elections, every voter could come to the polling station and verify the correctness of input information.

Special attention was paid to those who would vote for the first time. These are fourteen young women and man. They will be gifted with special presents in the ceremonial atmosphere on the day of the elections in order to keep in memory their first participation in the elections of the President of the country as memorable event. The elders will also be taken care of.

February 11 is a day of silence. It is very important day for the members of divisional election committees. On February 12, the polling stations will open their doors for the voting, which is to be held on high organizational level. We appeal to all citizens of the country to be more active and remember that by our votes we choose deserving future for us and our children!
