Central Asian countries join efforts to implement the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the international conference "Women, Peace and Security", which was recently held in Almaty.

The event was organized with the support of UN Women in Kazakhstan and the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

The conference aimed to catalyze the women’s participation in regional platforms for conflict prevention and peace promotion.

It was attended by members of the National Commission on Women's Affairs, heads of State bodies, representatives of non-governmental and international organizations, the diplomatic corps, as well as the expert community of Central Asian countries.

The conference participants discussed the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Central Asia, and also considered the prospects for the realization of the commitments "Women, Peace and Security" in the context of the 2030 Agenda in Central Asia.

The need for women's participation in all issues related to the political and economic life of states, ensuring and solving specific security problems was noted during the discussions.

At the end of the meeting, the conference participants adopted a final document with commitments to create conditions for strengthening work on the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution "Women, Peace and Security" in the regions.

The Dialogue of Women of Central Asia is an informal platform for discussing topical issues of development and strengthening cooperation between women parliamentarians of the region.

The Dialogue was created and operates with the support of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Women.

Turkmenistan chaired the Dialogue in 2022.
