Trainings on media and digital literacy were held in Ashgabat

Representatives of the national media of Turkmenistan and a number of agencies involved in the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan for 2021-2025 took part in a two-day training course on media literacy, which was held at the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

Ambassador John MacGregor, Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, who opened the event, noted that this training course will contribute to the sustainability of efforts to implement the provisions of the National Human Rights Action Plan on freedom of the media and freedom of expression.

The training course was held with the participation of international experts from Armenia and Moldova, who shared their knowledge about the modern media environment and types of media content, countering disinformation and basic tools and forms of fact-checking.

During the discussions between the participants, examples from the practice of cooperation of journalists with national human rights organizations from around the world were given.

According to the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, an international expert from the Republic of Moldova, Nadezhda Gogu, also conducted a master class on media and digital literacy for almost fifty students-journalists of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University of Humanities and Development and the MagtmgulyTurkmen State University.
