Khajimyrat Khudaygulyev, Chairman of the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency, stated at the Turkmentel-2023 International Scientific Conference on Telecommunications, Telemetry, Information Technology, and Broadcasting Equipment that 100% of the settlements in Turkmenistan are provided with high-speed internet.

He noted that the agency, headed by him together with the Islamic Development Bank, has implemented a number of projects on expansion and modernization of telecom operators' networks for 273 million US dollars.

"We achieved 100% coverage of settlements with high-speed internet due to various technologies, including the capabilities of our national communication satellite, mobile, and fixed-line communication," emphasized Khudaygulyev.

He reported that today the total number of internet users in Turkmenistan is 3,149,178 people, including 421,609 wired internet users and 2,727,569 mobile internet users.

According to him, special attention is given to increasing the transit traffic capacity, particularly through projects that involve expanding the backbone transport network."

Khudaygulyev noted that 8 interstate fiber-optic directions of information transmission have been established in Turkmenistan.

"It is planned to build a fiber-optic communication network from the border connection of Garabogaz village of the Balkan velayat to the settlement of Temir-Baba of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Etrek of the Balkan velayat and Kummet Kovus of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Work is underway to create fiber-optic communication along the bottom of the Caspian Sea between the telecom operators of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan," the head of the Turkmenaragtnashyk Agency said.

He also emphasized that in the last three years alone, the total capacity of purchased international Internet channels has increased tenfold.
