Workshop "Adaptation to Climate Change in Urban and Agricultural Water Supply" was conducted in Dashoguz

The three-day workshop, held in Dashoguz city, was organized as part of the projects "Development of the National Adaptation Planning Process in Turkmenistan" and “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits” which are implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. The project aims to enhance the capacity of relevant specialists on the rational use and conservation of water resources.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the Hyakimlik of Dashoguz and Darganata etrap of Lebap province, the Production Associations "Daşoguzagyzsuw," "Ruhubelentsuwhojalyk," "Türkmenbaşysuwhojalyk," "Daşoguzsuwhojalyk," "Hanýapsuwhojalyk," "Boldumsazsuwhojalyk," "Akdepesuwhojalyk," "Lebapsuwhojalyk," "Berzensuwaryşulgamy," the State Service "Suwgözegçilik," the State Committee of Water Management, the Turkmen State Scientific Research and Design Institute "Türkmensuwtaslama," the Dashoguz branch of the International Fund for the Aral Sea (IFAS), and the organization "Amudarya."

Participants discussed the impact of climate change on water resources, the irrigation regime of agricultural crops and water consumption planning at the farm level.

Visiting the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, participants get acquainted with multimedia programs used in agricultural automation, advanced solutions for agricultural mechanization offered by CLASS.

This is another workshop organized in partnership with the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (SIC ICWC) and the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Sustain Development Commission (SIC ISDC) of the IFAS.
