Leyla Babaeva, senior lecturer of the Music History Department of the M. Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, is the author of the scientific monograph "The Image of Magtymguly in the works of Turkmen composers".
In her scientific research, the teacher analyzes musical works by Turkmen and foreign composers whose works are connected with the heritage of the great poet and thinker of the East. Among them are the opera "Magtymguly" by Julij Mejtus, symphonic poem "Magtymguly" by Ashir Kuliev and Symphony No. 1 by Veli Mukhatov "In Memory of Magtymguly".
In addition, the book includes compositions by composers of different musical forms created on the poems of the classic of Turkmen literature: choral works, songs and romances, as well as music for the movie "Magtymguly".
Conclusions and a table of musical works created on the poet's verses are given in the appendix. The annex also supplements the list of used literature.
According to the author of the monograph, this is the first scientific work in the history of musical culture of Turkmenistan, related to the poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy in the composer's work. This material will be useful not only for students of music universities of the country, but also for those who are interested in the creative heritage of the poet.
The new research work, issued in the Ylym publishing house, has already taken a worthy place in the library of the music university, becoming a great gift to the approaching 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy.
