Upon completion of the official ceremony of photographing on the background of the national flags of the two countries, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held the one-on-one talks in the Hall for Bilateral Meetings at the Oguzkhan Presidential Palace Complex in Ashgabat.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the distinguished guest for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan. According to the President of Turkmenistan, this visit is an important step towards the further enhancement and development of relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, building up on the ties of friendship and good neighbourliness, the principles of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Expressing gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the invitation to visit Turkmenistan and the cordial welcome, the leader of Uzbekistan underlined the high level of the interstate dialogue that had always have mutually respecting and constructive character. The leader of Uzbekistan expressed belief that the meeting in Ashgabat would offer a powerful incentive to the bilateral partnership that has tremendous potential.

The leaders of the two states discussed a wide spectrum of issues on the status and prospects for development of the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation in its key areas within the framework of implementation of the earlier achieved agreements, the priorities of the social and economic development of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as well as plans for the future. Calling for enhancement of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of enhancing fruitful humanitarian and cultural relations.

The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan exchanged their views on a number of important aspects of the regional and international policy.
