On the 10th of December, 2023, the closing ceremony of the year «Shusha - the cultural capital of the Turkic World - 2023» took place, which was attended by the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli, the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Shusha Aydin Kerimov, the chairman of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulov, representatives of cities awarded the title of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, such as Eskisehir, Sheki, Turkestan, Osh, Khiva, Kastamonu, Bursa, Anev, Shusha and art lovers.
As part of the event, the position of coordinator of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY was transferred to the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov, and the symbol of the «Cultural Capital of the Turkic World» was presented to the mayor of the city of Anev Rovshen Jumayev.
In his message to the meeting participants, TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Rayev wished the townspeople of Anev success in fulfilling their honourable mission in the coming year. And the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov stated that there are ample opportunities for the development of cultural ties between the Turkic states, emphasizing that the activities of TURKSOY serve the unity of the Turkic World.
The event ended with a concert program in which artists from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part, and music and dances of the peoples of the Turkic World were performed.
As part of the final program of events of the cultural capital of the Turkic World «Shusha-2023», the TURKSOY Media Awards-2023 were also awarded to 16 media outlets, representatives from 9 countries of the Turkic world. Among those awarded the prize is the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.
