The opening ceremony of the 7th Japanese Film Festival, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture, was held at the "Ashgabat" cinema. The event generated great interest among the residents and guests of the capital.

The film "Restaurant from the Sky" opened the screening, which tells about the peculiarities of cuisine of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The film, directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa, was released in 2019.

The program of this year's film festival also includes the film "Only the Cat Knows" and a series of animated films by Takeshi Yashiro. The screenings will take place on December 16 at 6:00 PM and on December 17 at 1:00 PM.

Starting from December 23, the Japanese Film Festival will continue for the first time in the city of Turkmenbashi, where the two aforementioned films will be shown.

The films, created by Japanese filmmakers, are accompanied by English and Russian subtitles. Admission to all film screenings is free.

It is worth noting that the youth of Turkmenistan is fond of Japanese culture, particularly in cinema and Japanese animation (anime), which is popular worldwide. The number of students studying the Japanese language is increasing in our country every year.

Recently, representatives of the Embassy of Japan participated in the "Japanese Language Practice Club," held at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi. Impressed by the achievements of the Turkmen people in learning the Japanese language, the representatives of the Embassy of Japan promised to continue supporting the interest in the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
