A joint exhibition of paintings by women artists of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran is being held in Ashgabat, designed to give impetus to the deepening of the fruitful Turkmen-Iranian interstate dialogue.

The venue for the opening ceremony of the show was the Museum of Fine Arts.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and its subordinate institutions, the general public, the media, cultural and artistic figures of our country, as well as students.

The Iranian delegation included artists, masters of folk crafts and decorative arts.

It should be noted that the development of multifaceted cooperation with foreign countries, including traditional Turkmen-Iranian ties in the humanitarian sphere, is one of the priorities of the foreign policy strategy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This is confirmed by the joint exhibition of decorative, applied and mosaic art of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran held in Mary velayat in December 2023.

The current event is another significant milestone in the history of relations between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on centuries-old interaction and cultural and spiritual community of neighboring peoples. In the modern epoch, our countries demonstrate a desire to increase productive cooperation that meets not only mutual interests, but also the goals of sustainable development, well-being and prosperity of the entire region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Ruzbekhani, noting the significance of the current event, expressed hope that 2024 will be rich in cooperation and friendly relations, including cultural ties between Iran and Turkmenistan.

The diplomat was pleased to emphasize the growing dynamics of bilateral cooperation and expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his attention to its development.

The current exhibition includes a collection of classical Iranian paintings, calligraphy and other exhibits that give an idea of the multifaceted culture of the Iranian people.

Unique works were also presented by Turkmen masters of brushes and canvas, folk crafts, decorative and applied arts, who demonstrated genre, style and artistic originality through their works. These include jewellery, ceramics, etc.

Master classes at which artists from the two countries share their experiences in fine arts, calligraphy, etc. have become a tradition of the exhibition. The training of Iranian masters and Turkmen colleagues contributes to the development and improvement of professional knowledge, skills and abilities of young people.

As part of the current campaign, a creative conference «Painting and its role in protecting society» was held.

During their stay in Turkmenistan, the guests visited the State Academy of Arts of our country, and also got acquainted with the sights of the Turkmen capital.
