The musical adaptation of the Christmas fairy tale "The Grinch", based on the story by American writer Dr. Seuss, was a great success at the Cultural Center of the Oil and Gas Complex. This performance was staged by the music collective "Alba".

"The Grinch" is the first play by the new creative collective "Alba". The group was born out of a conversation in the kitchen between two violists - Atageldi Rozyev, a 4th-year conservatory student, and Kovus Byashimov, a 3rd-year student.

The genre of "musical" is not yet popular in our country, but the musicians wondered what would happen if it appeared more frequently. With the New Year approaching, they thought a Christmas fairy tale would be perfect. The idea of "The Grinch" came to mind, along with its performer - Dovran Shammyev.

It is not easy to stage musical, especially without prior experience. But everyone they turned to for help, Atageli and Kovus, supported them and the project moved towards its logical conclusion. Arrangements were made, librettos were written, costumes were sewn, and the children selected through auditions rehearsed with the choir and choreographer, and then were replaced by the adult cast.

They were nervous before going on stage, but everything went better than expected: both children and adults were captivated by the romantic atmosphere of the holiday portrayed in the fairy tale. The audience responded with applause to the performances of the dancing and singing artists.

"You must not spoil before you spin," we characterized the musical fairy tale "The Grinch", using a popular idiom with the opposite meaning. Will there be a sequel?

"It will definitely be!" answers Atageldi Rozyev. "We have plans to present the epic tale of 'Leyli and Majnun' in a pop version, and we also have ideas for musical adaptations of 'Aladdin' and 'Beauty and the Beast'."

We are amazed by our talented, enterprising and lucky youth who both study and find opportunities to showcase their talents on stage. The support and opportunities provided in our country have played a huge role in the successful realization of their plans.
