Today a concert was held in the Turkmen capital in honour of the national holiday - Republic Day of India. This creative event is designed to familiarize Turkmen people with the wide palette of art of the Indian people, their original customs and traditions, and achievements in the field of culture.

It should be noted that one of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is the strengthening of constructive partnerships with all interested partners, including the expansion of fruitful contacts with the countries of the Asian region, in particular with the Republic of India.

This is confirmed by the first visit in the history of interstate relations by the head of a friendly state to our country, which took place in 2022, marked by the celebration of two significant dates - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic Turkmen-Indian relations and the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.

The strengthening of fruitful ties with the Republic of India is evidenced by the fact that at the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Literature of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azady, students are trained in the specialty «Hindi language».

Also, another striking example of mutual cooperation between the two countries, including in the educational sphere, was the opening of the «India Corner» at the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva - a place for educational leisure for students interested in Indian culture and language.

In general, Turkmenistan and India have a solid potential for multifaceted partnership, the implementation of which will serve to build even stronger and more reliable bridges of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

And today Ashgabat warmly welcomes the creative delegation of a friendly country that arrived in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the celebration of the Republic Day of India.

The great interest shown in our country in Indian culture is evidenced by the crowded hall of the Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan. Leaders of the cultural sphere, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, the media, creative intelligentsia, the youth of the capital, and numerous fans of the art of the friendly people gathered here. The guest delegation includes the leader and artists of the classical «Kathak» dance group.

The concert program included dances of the classical style of Northern India «Kathak». In ancient times, temple storytellers - «Kathak» - told stories through gestures and dances. Over time, enriched with new elements and rhythms, this dance absorbed Hindu and Muslim traditions.

Bright costumes, national music, original performances gave the audience the opportunity to feel the spirit of ancient and modern India, appreciate the incredible choreography and magic of art passed down from generation to generation. In their performances, the artists masterfully combined dance rhythms and gymnastic movements.

The masters of art, who conquered the whole world with their interesting and complex productions, gave the people of Turkmenistan an unforgettable experience and were appreciated by the friendly applause of the audience.

A master class on dance art, which took place at the National Music and Drama Theatre named after Magtymguly, gave a special atmosphere to the current event. Here, foreign artists introduced the participants to the basics of the «Kathak» dance style and talked about its role in Indian culture.

As part of the cultural program, the delegation visited the sights of the capital, and an excursion to the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet in Ashgabat is also planned.

In this way, the creative forum, having aroused sincere interest of the public of Turkmenistan, demonstrated the closeness of our peoples, the strength of historical and spiritual ties and opened a new page in Turkmen-Indian cultural interaction, the desire of both countries to systematically increase and enrich the centuries-old relations of friendship and brotherhood.
