Youth is the driving force in the fight against climate change

January 25 this year at the Institute of International Relations Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a “Round table”, designated as “Road Map of Youth Initiatives in the fight against climate change in Turkmenistan - youth for climate action."

Organizers of the event: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, administration Institute of International Relations, as well as representatives Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, providing a university platform for discussing initiatives young professionals in the field of climate change, pursued the main goal - to develop a road map climate action in Turkmenistan. At the same time, another was decided, an equally important issue is raising awareness among young people on climate change issues, as well as the use of huge potential of the country's younger generation in solving urgent problems environmental issues.

Teacher-activists became participants in the Round Table environmental movement of almost all universities in the country. Every of those who spoke clearly understood and conveyed to his interlocutors his concern about climate change caused by human activities, and also argued in favor of more active inclusion of youth in environmental issues problems.

Almost everyone agreed that efforts to combat climate change will not succeed without more significant youth participation. They justified their position by the fact that the younger generation has an ever-increasing awareness of environmental issues, energy and knowledge that are already contributing significant concrete contribution to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

In this regard, the teacher gave specific examples Department of Energy Saving Technologies of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan Merdan Nursakhatov, specialist of the scientific department of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Y. Kakaev Tachmurad Bayramgeldyev and many others.

Moderator of the Round Table, Vice-Rector of the Institute International Relations Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova, emphasizing the importance of each speakers' proposals and initiatives, noted and consistent position of Turkmenistan in the decision climate issues. She emphasized that the current the “Round Table” is a logical continuation of the decision issues raised by the youth conference on issues climate change, which took place in November last year in Ashgabat. Then the youth of Turkmenistan demonstrated their determination to become active participants in the global movement to prevent further climate change.

The expected outcome of the current «Round Table» was development of specific actions to implement initiatives for climate in the country. The action plan is, to a large extent, reflection of national interests in climate issues.

About your vision and the importance of coordination issues activities of various structures in addressing climate change problems were discussed at the Round Table by a representative of the Office UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Maksat Keshiev and specialist of the UNDP project «Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: comprehensive development of the city of Ashgabat and Avaza» Dzhemal Durdykova.

The discussion has ended, step-by-step steps have been formulated measures to combat climate change. The subsequent exchange of views at the end of the Round Table, clearly demonstrated and showed that our youth, in this case, young teachers-activists in issues ecology, there is a huge abundance of interest in ensuring the common good and well-being of planet Earth, which they to be inherited.
