Certificates were awarded to the participants of computer courses for senior citizens

The first stage of digital literacy courses for senior citizens has been completed at the Innovation and Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

As part of the "Innovative Computer Technologies" program, a group of 20 people acquired basic computer skills. The participants were awarded state certificates at the end of the one-month course.

Serdar Yagshyev, Chief Specialist of the Training and International Department, said: "We can say that this year the first group for senior citizens was opened at our center. Free training was organized specifically for this age group. Classes were held every other day, with the total course duration of 54 hours. Currently, we have enrolled another group of 30 people."

During the introductory courses, senior participants learned the basics of computer operation, including turning the computer on and off, opening, closing and saving files and folders. They also acquired practical skills in using the keyboard, printer, etc. They learned about built-in programs and applications in the Windows operating system, Internet access, browsers, email registration and more.

In the era of rapid development of digital technologies, computer literacy is becoming an increasingly necessary skill. The ability to use a computer and the Internet helps efficiently solve everyday tasks, pay utility bills, communication services, and more. Additionally, mastering personal computers allows elderly individuals to enrich their leisure time by reading books, watching movies online, and communicating with family members through video calls.

Today, as part of the State Program on Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, there are numerous web services available in our country that are designed to address specific tasks and meet the needs of each user.

One of the most popular is the State Services Portal at https://e.gov.tm/. Therefore, mastering modern technologies enables elderly people to feel involved in the social life.

According to representatives of the Innovation and Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, anyone interested can become a student of these free computer literacy courses. To register for the training, individuals need to provide their passport, pension certificate and one photo. The classes take place at 136 Magtymguly Avenue.
