Teachers of Turkmen universities became participants of the international seminar in Tashkent

The Turkmen delegation took part in an international seminar on upgrading the skills of English language specialists and teachers, organized by the organization British Council at the Uzbek State University of World Languages in Tashkent from 9 to 11 January.

The seminar focused on the topic of enhancing English language learning in Central Asia, as well as the role of continuous professional development and reflective practice in English teacher training programs.

The international meeting brought together experts in the field of English language teaching and representatives of leading universities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. 

Senior researcher of the National Institute of Education of Turkmenistan, English language teachers of Turkmen Makhtumkuli State University and Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi represented Turkmenistan on the fields of international seminar.

The participants discussed the key areas of teaching English in public educational institutions, the importance of continuous professional development and reflective practice in the process of teacher training, also the topic of developing clear criteria for assessing students' language competence.

Experts noted the need to move from the transfer of theoretical knowledge to the formation of practical skills in the framework of teacher training, as well as the importance of updating training programs in accordance with international standards.

The delegates stressed the importance of the seminar as part of efforts to improve the quality of English language teaching in Central Asian countries and expressed confidence that the knowledge acquired by the participants would greatly contribute to improving the effectiveness of teachers.
